London or Bust!

An early rise on Tuesday morning - 4.00 am! The overnight accommodation was more than satisfactory- very clean and comfortable.
This early hour was a blessing - missing the heavy demands that the Sydney airport was under. The domestic terminal at this hour was starting to be very busy, but fortunately the international terminal was very calm in comparison.

The JAL flight departed at 8.15 am with a full contingent of passengers. The flight was uneventful except for the excellence of the service throughout the flight. We had a six hour layover before the flight to London.
A schedule change had the flight leaving two and half hours early - due to a flight path change. This change took us north to Alaska, over the Arctic ice, Greenland and then entering UK airspace over the Scottish highlands. The flight landed shortly after 6 am.
To our surprise,  entry into the UK was the simplest it had ever been - an electronic passport check, collected luggage and walked straight outside!
Still only a tick past 7 am, so an Uber to Maddie and Kevan’s to meet our granddaughter before she went off to nursery.

Waiting Adventure!

Finally, the journey to the UK is underway. It has been a long time in the making.
Flight to Sydney was 20 minutes late, but the wait was well worth it - time made up and landed at the schedule time - 5.55 pm.

The Tasmanian landscape is particularly dry at the moment but it is obvious how the upgrading of the irrigation system is making a difference in agriculture.

As we approached Sydney the green landscape was a very distinct contrast to the Tassie conditions.
Arrived in Sydney where there was a short holdup with the luggage - a worldwide problem according to a conversion with Maddie a short while ago. All is well though, off to the airport at 5am tomorrow morning!
